Dream Vacation: Frost flowers in the Arctic

How beautiful are these photos of the Arctic Ocean? Researchers at the University of Washington trekked to the frigid to study what they have dubbed frost flowers -- delicate frost that grows from imperfections in the surface ice.


Here's the wild part: The resulting spiky structures is actually a temporary ecosystem that can withstand the extremely cold temperature. How cool is that?
